A pen is not required by school but you might find it useful to for making notes in class or drawing projects.

The best choice is an Apple Pencil 1. This is high quality but expensive.It is recommended for drawing.

You can get cheaper pencils online. If you are not using a a screen protector buy a pencil with a plastic tip. Make sure the pencil will work with your iPad.
